One could never imagine that saree designing could be so creative and that too with men. Since there is no competition for sarees from other cultures in the globe, new innovations are welcomed. Of course some are fads that fall with the fading seasons. But some designer saree looks are here to stay. Take for example the reversible saree. It can be worn both ways. What’s new about this style? There are many fabrics like satin and crepe that can be reversed and worn. What is it that makes the reversible saree different? It is the 4 different matching pallus, borders and 2 bodies on each side. Four years ago the reversible sari made its debut in the market. It comes with a high price tag of nearly INR 68, 650! Of course not many women can afford it. But it is economical for the ones who have already purchased it. It is an acquisition for the wardrobe with other never ending sarees.
The sari was a hard toil of 50 workers who spent day and night making it. This was done after nearly two years of research by a team of designers. This saree is available on e-bay. For the first time such a weaving process has been accomplished. The makers have also applied for the patent that makes it exclusive to the ones who have created it. It is called the ‘korvai effect’. It refers to the contrast between the border and the body of the reversible saree.
